Shankman also claims to be one of approximately ten individuals who have recently started a new movement they hope to grow, ”Labor Party USA.” He also claims to have once been a member of the International Workers of the World, saying his membership is not current but he may join again. I believe this is it.
This is the official web-page of the International Workers of the World, IWW/AI – affiliated to the IFA – L’Internationale des Fédérations Anarchistes – The International of the Federations of Anarchists – The International of Anarchist Federations (IAF) and the Anarchist International (AI). For the history of IWW/AI in general, see link to the history of IFA/IAF/AI, at “Links” below. The Confederation consists of anarchosyndicalists in the Anarchist Federations of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Finland, and in several other countries of the Anarchist International broadly defined, from Iceland to the New Artisan and Workers’ Union in Mauritius (click on: NAWU ), etc. i.e. world wide.Shankman doesn’t see much of a difference between Republicans and Democrats, but feels it’s only Progressives that are trying to fix things in America.

Hmm, I think there have been multiple attempts at establishing independent "Labor" parties across the nation, with no success to show for it. But, if they're committed to true party building, rather than symbolic gestures (such as hopeless gubernatorial or federal senate runs), and a committed plan to become relevant in their state (or neighborhood), that is very good.
Though, they may want to talk to the Wisconsin Greens and the likes of Ben Manski, after all he got 30% in a heavily democratic district...
Yeah, TF, you make a good point. I often come across articles by activists who've finally had enough of the Democrats or Republicans, and argue that "we need a third party" or that "someone needs to start a third party". And then I have to wonder, do they just not know about already existing third parties? Or do they know and think that they are insufficient too?
Yeah, I often read that as well, thinking to myself "Uh, we already have plenty of third parties...". Now, when we take Wisconsin, they already have a third party established and committed to true party building, that is labor union friendly, so why not join up with them, rather than investing the energy in building another "Labor" party that might not go anywhere...
