When it comes to tossing tax dollars into the black maw of the Pentagon, Democrats and Republicans get along just fine. Forget the furor over bailouts and bonuses. The Military-Industrial Complex has been enjoying the fruits of a sixty year stimulus plan by now and neither party shows any sign of stopping the fun.With the recent GAO findings that 70% of Pentagon weapons systems are over budget by some $300 billion, any call for a reduction in defense spending will draw bi-partisan opposition in Congress, once the lobbyists, contractors and hawks put their machine in motion.
